RANT!

WAKE UP AMERICA! Do we really want to put in place an administration that would say that insurance companies don’t have to pay for contraception but still cover Viagra? That says it is okay for Doctors to lie to women about the results of an ultra sound or other tests that says the fetus has major problems just because the mother may consider abortion as an option. Do we want an administration that legislates who and how we can love. That makes women into second class citizens? If that’s the case there are several countries in the mid-east that would be happy to have you. The government needs to stay out of my bedroom and my doctor’s office. Yes we need the FDA but come on the rest of it makes no sense. You are creating more problems than you are solving. Defunding Planned Parenthood will cost more than it saves. Women who would’ve been able to get low cost mammograms will die of breast cancer. The instance of unplanned pregnancy will go up. Who will support all those unwanted children?

End of an era

It’s the end of an era. My husbands uncle, Frank, passed away yesterday morning. He was the last of that generation. Frank was a WWII navy sailor aboard the USS LaVallette DD448. My husband is a Vietnam vet. His dad and all of his uncles served in WWII. His dad and my mom & dad all served in Korea. They are all gone now. I think it is sad that an entire generation of those who served a higher calling is fading away. Their lives had a purpose greater than gross consumerism.

My thoughts for Memorial Day

As you picnic & go to the sales or however you plan to spend your day, please take a moment to not only remember those who sacrificed their lives in defense of our country but realize that they didn’t sacrifice alone. Lives were lost and those lost lives touched their loved ones, their community, and the future that wasn’t to be. Who knows what we lost when those lives were extinguished. What medicines weren’t discovered, what inventions lost, what songs not sung, books, not written, art not created, lives not taught, not touched. Remember that those lost lives allow us to be here to create and continue. Let us honor their sacrifice by being the best we can be. Enjoy the freedom their lives and futures have paid for and never take it for granted.
